Heart-Chiz second wedding not ‘full-blown’

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

That’s how Sen. Chiz Escudero described his and wife Heart Evangelista’s second wedding on Feb. 15 next year, coinciding with their first wedding anniversary.

Unlike the one solemnized at the exclusive Balesin Island last year, the second one will be a simple renewal of vows to be held at Heart’s new house in New Manila, Quezon City. Chiz has his own a stone’s throw away from where he lives with his twins.

If you recall, Heart’s parents, Rey and Cecile Ongpauco, didn’t attend the Balesin wedding because of a misunderstanding (I guess you know what it was), although dad Rey sent a touching message for Chiz and Heart. Differences have been ironed out. All’s well with the family.

Said Chiz, “It will be a private family affair, kami-kami lang. My family will be there. This time, we will have a wedding photo with Heart’s parents and with mine. It will also be our thanksgiving for so many blessings.”

By next year, the couple is deadset on having a baby…whether Chiz decides to run in the 2016 elections or not.

“Heart and I will try hard to have a baby,” added Chiz.

In an earlier interview with Funfare, Heart admitted that she is on pills. Some of her contracts/endorsements don’t allow her to be pregnant just yet, until their expirations.

Rodel Naval’s life story to be told in book

Rodel Naval died 20 years ago and up to now he’s remembered by friends and showbiz colleagues with fondness. In life, Rodel was well-loved; a nice guy. He’s also immortalized by his hit songs (Lumayo ka Man Sa Akin, etc.).

Good news for Rodel’s fans and friends: His story will be told in a book titled The Life of Rodel Naval – Restored Identity set to be released next month.

In a letter to Funfare, Rodel’s sister Rosalie Naval Memije said, “His story can bring hope to people who are hurting in body and soul. The book is authored by Pastor Rauni Salminen, a hospice director in Toronto, based on recorded interviews with Rodel shortly before he died, and by Avon Maralit who is from Manila. Avon said that she wouldn’t have been interested in writing Rodel’s story if the purpose was merely to ‘glorify’ a celebrity.”

The book is now on its final editing with the New Day Publishers in Manila. It is designed to put in the proper light certain episodes of Rodel’s life. Rodel lost his eyesight days before he passed on.
