Ruffa Gutierrez still respects mom Annabelle despite misunderstanding

MANILA, Philippines – Despite their misunderstanding, Ruffa Gutierrez still respects her mom Annabelle Rama’s opinion about her partner Jordan Mouyal.

Although she also hopes that she’ll also respect the choices she makes in her life, like her relationship with Mouyal for more than a year now.

The mother and daughter’s rift rooted from Annabelle’s disapproval of Ruffa’s relationship with Mouyal.

“I would like to have that respect between us, the relationship between us. But in the end, gusto ko pa rin makapag-decide ako on my own,” she said in an interview on Thursday, at Raffle's Hotel in Makati. “Pinapakita ko lang na bilang anak, kahit na mataray siya or kahit gano’n siya, I’m still her daughter and I have to respect her.”

Annabelle arrived at the latter part of Ruffa’s event for Cosmo Skin where they signed her renewed contract as the brand’s endorser.

After the signing, Annabelle answered some questions from the members of the press. One of which is from Glaiza Jarloc of Sun Star who asked what she appreciates the most with her daughter despite their misunderstanding.

The Gutierrez matriarch complimented Ruffa as a mother, and pointed out that their only problem is her preference of guys.

“Actually wala naman akong problema sa kanya. Ang away namin laging sa lalaki,” said Annabelle about Ruffa. “Masipag siya, wala naman ibang [problema] kasi okay magtrabaho, mabait siyang nanay sa mga anak niya. Pagdating sa love life talagang bobo lang talaga siya.”

After the press conference, Ruffa was asked to react about her mother’s statement.

“I’m used to it!” she replied, smiling. “Kung ‘yon ang opinion niya rerespetuhin ko ‘yon, but at the same time respetuhin niya rin ang opinion ko.”

She may feel strongly about her mom letting her decide on her own, the former beauty queen made sure that she won’t do anything that will permanently affect her relationship with her mom.

“Siguro I’ll continue living my life the way it is,” she explained. “I’m just working and doing what is expected of me [which is] to be professional. Siguro for my mom, makikita naman niya in the end that mali ‘yong iniisip niya.”
