Jose Manalo proud of son Nicco

MANILA, Philippines – Jose Manalo is proud of his son Nicco Manalo who is now making his own name in the show business.

Nicco is actively doing different independent films, played roles in different ABS-CBN TV series and recently tried the world of music.

“Masayang-masaya, anak ko ‘yan, e,” he proudly said in an interview with philstar.com on Thursday, at the press conference of his upcoming Sunday variety show “Sunday Pinasaya.”

Jose said he has always seen the potential of his son to make it big in the industry. Yet he made it clear to him that he won’t help in pushing his career.

“‘Yon naman ang sinabi ko sa kanya, sinabi ko sa kanila no’n. Sabi ko sa kanila, ‘kung gusto n’yong mag-artista, ‘wag n’yong isipin na tutulungan ko kayo,” he recalled. “So kung gusto ninyo mag-artista gamitin ninyo ‘yong paraan ninyo. So ginawa naman ni Nicco.”

For the years he has spent in the industry, Jose admits he learned a lot of things from his experiences. Although remaining humble is the most important lesson he would like to impart to his son.

“‘Wag niya ilagay sa ulo [ang tagumpay],” he said. “Talasan niya lang, talasan niya ang showbiz. Masyadong malikot ang showbiz. Hindi mo alam kung kailan darating ‘yong magiging kilala ka, hindi mo rin alam kailan matatapos. Basta magdasal lang lagi, ‘yong prayers ‘wag niyang kalimutan.”
