Matteo on Sarah’s parents: I respect whatever mindset they have

MANILA, Philippines – Despite what he describes as "little challenges here and there," Matteo Guidicelli is happy with his relationship with girlfriend Sarah Geronimo. 

Matteo and Sarah made headlines when they were seen together at the ABS-CBN actor’s birthday party last Thursday. The “Inday Bote” star turned emotional when Sarah sang to him the Ed Sheeran hit “Thinking Out Loud” during the party.

“Masaya ako dahil marami na kaming pinagdaanan. She's growing, she's becoming happier,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s news program “Bandila” aired Tuesday. "And just to witness all that, I became emotional.”

Matteo added everything is okay between him and Sarah’s parents, who reportedly did not attend the actor’s birthday party.

The ABS-CBN star acknowledged he doesn’t have the "same mindset” as Sarah’s parents but said he respects them just the same.

Sarah’s mother, Divine, is known to be strict with her singer-actress daughter.

“We don’t have the same mindset but I respect whatever mindset they have, whatever they feel and think about me. I respect totally everything. I can’t do anything because that’s the people Sarah loves the most. I love them too. I want to love them too,” he said.

Matteo added, “I hope everything will be better and happier in the future, kumbaga.”
