MANILA, Philippines - After the success of the Cinderella live action movie, Disney is planning to make another live action film out of Mulan.
The story of Hua Mulan, the legendary heroine who runs away from home and disguises herself as a man to join the Chinese army against the oncoming Hun invasion, will finally get the live action treatment.
According to Hollywood Reporter, which first released the news:
Disney bought a script by writing team Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek that centers on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, the female warrior who was the main character in Disney's 1998 animated film.
No release date or casting has been announced yet. "Cinderella," played by Lily James, has raked $336.2 million worldwide since hitting theaters weeks ago. Will Mulan get the same box office hit?
Meanwhile, live-action retelling of Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens will hit the theaters on 2017, while new version of The Jungle Book and the sequel to Alice in Wonderland will be released on 2016.
