MANILA, Philippines - Casino Filipino (CF) will feature some of the country’s OPM (Original Pilipino Music) legends as part of its The Music of March entertainment offering.
In the second half of March, CF guests will be treated to special musical shows by prominent local performers. One of them is Rey Valera. The veteran singer, who remains unfazed by the influx of new artists, cited the importance of “feeling the pulse of the audience during performances.”
Valera said he does his best to relate with his audience every time he performs on stage. “I guess that’s something lacking in other singers. They sing not minding whether people are listening or not. It bothers me when I realize that I did not measure up to expectations,” he added.
Given his commitment to always give his best during his shows, it is not surprising that Valera’s fans are anticipating his shows at CF Cebu on March 20 and at the Madison Satellite on March 27. He will be singing some of his OPM classics like Maging Sino Ka Man, Naaalala Ka, Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko and Pangako, among others.
“Those who will come to my shows can expect to enjoy the sounds of yesteryears. I’ll be performing most of my popular songs as I know that those are the pieces that my audience can relate to very well,” Valera said.
Another featured artist is Kuh Ledesma, who will be spotted at CF Tagaytay on March 21. She promises another topnotch musical treat for casino guests as she sings the hit songs that catapulted her to fame like I Think I’m In Love, Till I Met You and One More Try.
“These songs will always be part of my live performances not only because these are my hits and favorites but because the messages they convey appeal to the senses. My music will always be full of emotions,” Ledesma said.
Apart from Ledesma and Valera, other artists who will perform in Casino Filipino are Basil Valdez (CF Bacolod, March 16); Jose Manalo (Malabon Satellite, March 20); Aiza Seguerra (CF Cebu, March 13 and Madison Satellite, March 20); Renz Verano and Eva Eugenio (CF Olongapo, March 24); Agot Isidro (CF Cebu, March 25); Pooh (CF Davao, March 27); and Jessa Zaragoza (CF Iloilo, March 28).
PAGCOR AVP for Entertainment Bong Quintana said the series of concert shows they lined up for the second half of March intends to promote Filipino music. “With our shows headlined by prominent OPM artists, we’re very certain that our guests will not only enjoy but also increase their appreciation for Filipino music,” he said.
