MANILA, Philippines - Puregold Priceclub, Inc. partners with the Azkals Foundation in a nationwide fundraising campaign titled Small Change, Big Change.
The campaign aims to raise extra funds for the country’s national football team as it prepares for the World Cup qualifying matches this year that could pave the way for the team’s participation in the 2018 quadrennial football event.
Small Change, Big Change was officially launched recently at Puregold QI Central in E. Rodriguez Ave., Quezon City, and it was attended by Azkals manager Dan Palami, coach Tom Dooley, members of the team, and Puregold advertising and communications manager Ivy Piedad.
Small Change, Big Change involves the placement of donation cans in key commercial establishments and stores, and it encourages people to donate their loose change after they pay at the counter. Puregold is the first supermarket chain to get involved in this campaign.
“We are very happy that Puregold is one of the organizations that has decided to help the team by pitching in. We are truly grateful for their support,” says Palami.
Palami also explains that while the Azkals receive some financial support from the Philippine Football Federation and commercial sponsors, the team would benefit from the infusion of additional funds. “The team has achieved much with the limited funds available, and we believe that the team can go much farther with more funding support.”
“Five years ago, international football observers would have trouble believing that the Azkals would be the top footballing nation in the region; now the Philippines is the top ranked country in Southeast Asia. So participating in the World Cup is not impossible if all Filipinos pitch in, especially the fans,” says coach Dooley.
