Kuya Eddie hosts SM Senior Citizen Extravaganza

MANILA, Philippines - Former Sen. Eddie Ilarde (inset), Kuya Eddie to his legions of Kahapon Lamang (over dzBB) fans, is ecstatic about the launching of SM Senior Citizen Extravaganza on March 10, at the Sky Dome of SM North EDSA sponsored by SM Prime Holdings.

“Millions of seniors (pictured) all over the country hail SM’s genuine concern for the dignity and welfare of the fast-growing number of older people,” Kuya Eddie told Funfare. “This monthly event underscores the crying need of our senior citizens for attention and assistance, not only materially but emotionally. Entertainment is most welcome and SM gives it to them for free; senior citizens believe in our motto ‘Strength through joy,’ or ‘may lakas at sigla kung may ligaya at saya.’”

The extravaganza will feature as guests Pilita Corrales, Anthony Castelo, Rey Valera, The Golden Eagles Singers and other personalities from radio and TV. Kuya Eddie’s co-host is Jackie Lou Blanco.

The main event is non-stop ballroom dancing with live music by the Nonoy Lopez dance band, to be interspersed with popular songs by the guest singers and dance numbers by young hula dancers from Hawaii and Col. Boy Sagun (Ret.), “the most senior Elvis Presley of the Philippines.”

Various senior citizens’ organizations from Metro Manila and other places shall be in attendance. The show is for free on a first-come-first-serve basis.
