Gretchen on rift with Marjorie: Family is family, no matter what
MANILA, Philippines- Gretchen Barretto prefers to keep mum on the issue involving her and sister Marjorie Barretto.
"Things can happen, magkatampuhan tayo. It's not gonna help na somebody will provoke or add (negativity)," she said in an interview on Friday at the launch of the "Everyday Gretchen" jewelry collection for Karat World.
"There are the things na puwedeng pag-usapan, puwedeng tahimik na lang. But when it comes to family, that's a very, very sensitive topic. You can't play around with that especially with the kids. Family is family, no matter what happens," she adds.
The sisters had a rift after Gretchen expressed her admiration for Liza Soberano. This hurt the feelings of Marjorie, who according to reports, considers Liza as a "rival" of her daughter Julia Barretto.
When asked if she'll attend Julia's debut this March, Gretchen said she will still "pray about it."
Meanwhile, Gretchen is very happy with the recognition that she got for her performance in the film "The Trial."
She won the best supporting actress award at the recent Gawad Tanglaw, and was nominated for the same category for PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2015.
"Hindi puwedeng laging panalo, pero masarap 'pag palaging panalo," she said about the projects she does. "Pero iba kapag pinaghihirapan mo 'yong isang bagay, and then it's rewarding. It's a fulfillment na you did something good for the industry. "
As her birthday approaches on March 6, Gretchen will start celebrating as early as tonight. "It's hard to have everybody in one big celebration. I want to enjoy it with everyone."
She'll have a post celebration with her daughter Dominique in London after she attends an awards night next week.
