Kris: Family is first priority
There was much ado about what was perceived to be Kris Aquino’s “loaded” answers when asked by guest Nora Aunor if she was running (not specified for what position) in 2016 in last Sunday’s edition of The Buzz.
Kris’ answer was the same that she had given in previous interviews — a Big No!
Asked by Funfare yesterday about it, Kris said, “I answered that way because it came from my heart. With me, family is first priority; I want to be a mom first and foremost to my sons Joshua and Bimby. The yaya of Bimby is getting married in September; she has been a constant in the life of Bimby who was only three years old when James and I separated, so Bimby will need me. He’s turning eight on April 9 and I want him to feel that he has a mom who prioritizes him.”
Bimby’s yaya, 31, is a Seventh-Day Adventist member and so is her fiancé. Her sister is the yaya of Joshua. Both sisters are treated like family by Kris who has brought them on trips abroad. Also, Kris has decided to postpone the shoot of her new movie so she can act as “stage mother” to Bimby during the shoot of his own movie (perhaps for release in this year’s Metro Filmfest).
“Truthfully,” added Kris, “I had a feeling that Ate Guy (Nora) was being sarcastic when she asked me about 2016, and I can’t blame her.”
What about his and co-host/soulmate Boy Abunda’s promise to help finance the oft-postponed surgery on Nora’s ailing throat?
“I was sincere in promising that I would share with Boy in financing the treatment of her throat so she can get back her golden voice,” insisted Kris.
Funfare gathered that Kris would shoulder the airfare (to Singapore) and Boy the treatment. But no cash will change hands between Kris and Boy, and Nora. If ever, Boy will reportedly pay directly to the hospital. Some people are suggesting that Nora should first consult home-based specialist, like Dr. Randy Lopa (Kris’ relative).
Kris is standing by her kuya, Pres. Noynoy Aquino, through thick and thin, especially when his term ends next year and, possibly according to Kris, cases might be filed against him.
Explained Kris, “We are realistic about the many enemies P-Noy has made, the constant threats and concerted effort to bring him down. Many will have an axe to grind, so of course, as I said, family first. May I add that I remain steadfast in my faith in my brother’s integrity, competency, leadership and moral compass.”
Oh by the way, what is Kris’ reaction to her Aunt Tingting Cojuangco’s “joke” that she would leave the country if ever Kris runs in 2016?
Kris was mum. Her silence spoke volumes.

- Oops! From reader Edgar Esmeria: It was mentioned in a recent item in Funfare that Gary Valenciano wrote the song Warrior Is A Child for Rico Yan. For accuracy, the song was composed and sung by Twila Paris (US Gospel singer) when she was 22. The song was released in 1984. As this song has touched many hearts, it is just acceptable to have the info corrected and give credit accordingly…From composer Danny Tann: Isang Mundo, Isang Awit (interpreted by Leah Navarro) was a grand prize winner of Metropop while Freddie Aguilar’s Anak and APO’s Ewan were all Metropop, and not Philpop, entries.
