A rich heritage, Casa Marcos style

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Casa Marcos has always been known for its mouth-watering, homey Spanish food and its pugon pandesal baked in house. Most people think that the name Casa Marcos was used as an homage to the former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos, but in truth the restaurant was really established in 1945, by a Spanish jai alai player named Señor Marcos de Guisasola who would cook and sing for his guests in the original Dewey Blvd. branch.

When it comes to Casa Marcos, the first thing on a guest’s mind is usually an order of Gambas, Almejas, Paella and Steak Ala Pobre, all made using whole or chopped garlic and cooked in the same manner the patrons remember from long ago. These are their bestsellers, one bite of each is sure to bring you back to your last Casa Marcos experience.

But perhaps it’s time to try other equally special items on their menu like their Heritage Dishes, made with specially sourced and exotic meats as ingredients such as lengua, usa, baboy damo, which are all cooked and simmered in a slow pot of rich sauces that are hard to forget.

It is these Heritage Dishes that were first enjoyed by the patrons many decades ago and then shared to their families and friends, and continually being served in both Casa Marcos branches today. It is these patrons who walk into Casa Marcos and can easily give their orders to the wait staff without seeing the menu, and while waiting, munch on their hot dinner rolls served with slices of butter.

It is hoped that with each bite, each guest remembers many fond memories from long ago, as Casa Marcos continues to strive to preserve the taste and quality of the food, ambience and service from years past.

Casa Marcos Restobar was re-opened in late 2011 in Forbeswood Heights, Burgos Circle, Fort Bonifacio, and Casa Marcos Steak Tapas since late 2012 in Ortigas Home Depot, Julia Vargas Ave., Pasig City.

Their third branch has also just reopened last November 2014 which will be a return to Quezon City, also the location of their former Gilmore and Tomas Morato branches. Casa Marcos is located at the second floor of the Il Terrazzo Mall, Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

Their popular pandesal remains available for sale in all branches.
