Beatlemania: Good food, good music

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Take a well-deserved trip down memory lane after a hectic week as celebrity chef Mervyn Whitfield, whose clients include The Beatles and Princess Diana, whips up an appetizing dinner while the Bloomfields band and Gary Lising spice up the evening in Beatlemania on Feb. 28, 7 p.m. at the Players Pub (formerly San Mig Pub), Corte de las Palmas, second floor, Alabang Town Center, Muntinlupa City.

Make this blast from the past more memorable by coming in your best ‘60s and ‘70s outfits and accessories — bell bottoms, head scarves, bangles, flare pants, floral prints, platform shoes, cardigans, knitted tops, vests and others.

And don’t forget the hairstyle — long and lush with bangs for women and sleek and combed-back for men.

Sing, dance and sway to good old rock ’n roll, ballads and mellow hits from drummer Rocky Collado, keyboardist-guitarist Lakan Hila, bassist Louie Poco and balladeer-guitarist Dino Pascual of Aliw Awards Best Performer of the Year (2011) The Bloomfields.

Shake off that week-long stress by cracking up at Gary’s irreverent jokes.
