MANILA, Philippines - Kat Alano once again defended herself from her bashers, who accuse her of using the "rape controversy" in connection with the mauling of TV host Vhong Navarro, to become famous again.

She insisted that "rape happens."

“Still so many who believe that claiming rape makes you famous. Hearing a bunch of idiots degrade you online is not fame. #endrapeculture” she said on her Twitter post on January 20.

She also pointed out that her bashers “don't understand what rape is and how damaging it is to people.”

It could be recalled that January last year, she had a series of posts on her Twitter account about rape victims, as Navarro was charged with rape by Denice Cornejo.

April last year, through Mo Twister's radio show “Good Times With Mo,” she opened up about being a rape victim by a public figure who she never named, nine years ago.

She narrated how she met the guy in a bar and when she got drunk the guy offered to take her to her place. She claimed that the guy raped her when she passed out.

Some netizens bashed her after the revelation and accused her of using the rape issue to become famous.

Kat, meanwhile, continues to call for support to “change the way the courts deal with rape” and posted a link to a petition to help rape victims get justice.
