As the station with a heart, GMA Network espouses a set of core values that is deeply ingrained in its corporate identity.
Indeed, these core values have become the guidelines by which the network operates — from its business practices and programming, to its day-to-day functions.
From the building’s walls down to each personnel’s ID card, the seven core values are imprinted as a reminder to its people of the ideals that embody the Kapuso brand.
In its endeavor to be “one at heart” with Filipinos around the world, the network begins right at home — with the people who make up its workforce.
Considering its workers as a vital element to its continued success, the network takes to heart one of its core principles — “We value our people as our best assets.”
In this fast-paced industry, achieving a healthy work-life balance is essential to any individual. And, in an effort to give back to its people for their contributions, the company has consistently upheld its long-standing practice of offering its workers a range of employee welfare activities that cater to their wellbeing.
In June of 2014, the company continued this tradition with its Family Day. A yearly event celebrating the network’s anniversary and held in gratitude to their workers’ loyalty and dedication, Family Day gathered the network’s workforce and their families for a fun-filled day at the Enchanted Kingdom theme park.
With the excitement from the entertaining program, unlimited rides, raffle draws and wizard money for souvenirs and the like, the whole day activity was a thrilling experience for GMA personnel, more importantly because they were able to enjoy it with their loved ones.
Moreover, the company also gives them an outlet for their other interests and talents outside the workplace. Various sports tournaments are held throughout the year, which include volleyball, basketball, billiards, bowling, chess, badminton and table tennis. While providing them with an avenue to show their physical and mental strength as they compete with other teams and co-workers, the sports tournaments also cultivate an atmosphere of solidarity, camaraderie, as well as fun and friendly competition.
The company capped off the year with the annual GMA Network Christmas Party, a much-anticipated event for the entire Kapuso workforce. Held at the Amoranto Stadium, the party was abundant with food, raffle prizes, entertainment and the Kapuso spirit.
As part of the night’s program, the company stages an inter-departmental competition each year which showcases the many talents found in its richly diverse pool of workers. As one of the party’s most anticipated segments, last year’s theme mirrored the concept of the network’s recently-concluded reality talent search, Bet Ng Bayan, which highlighted their “kakaibang talento” and creativity.
Certainly, the event was a collaborative effort from everyone at the Kapuso Network in celebration of the Christmas season and the fruitful year that had transpired.
In light of all these, the company manages to create a well-balanced atmosphere for its people to grow and feel valued. With these activities, the workers become more motivated and productive, bolstered by the company’s efforts to foster professional growth and happiness.
The mutually beneficial relationship has also garnered positive feedback from the network’s personnel as evidenced by the large attendance in the various employee welfare activities, with many proposing additional or other employee engagement activities that could be promoted or undertaken by the company.
Truly, all these are manifestations of the GMA’s commitment to its core values, and more importantly, to the heart of the network — its people.
