Bamboo to Joniver Robles: Let go of negativity
MANILA, Philippines - Bamboo Mañalac, one of the four coaches in "The Voice" Philippines, told kicked out Joniver Robles to move on and "let go of negativity."
"Disappointments, that's how you rise above. So ako ang tanong ko, how does he rise above that, right? Ako to everyone I will say, take the higher road, let go of negativity,” Bamboo said in an interview after being announced that he is the latest endorser of Filipino fastfood giant Jollibee on Wednesday.
Joniver, who was under Bamboo's team, went to social media and complained against how he was kicked out of the show.
He was able to survive the knockout rounds on the show's January 19 episode, but he was still dismissed. Bamboo announced that Joniver will not be moving on to the competition due to “personal reasons.”
It was also announced that the dismissal was agreed upon by the show's management and Joniver, which the budding artist denied.
Bamboo said that he knew about the decision to kick out Joniver of “The Voice” and the franchise owner Talpa a couple of weeks ago.
“It was in discussion but they agreed upon na for personal reasons, [he] walks away from the show. So it was a surprise. It happens,” he adds.
Bamboo advised Joniver that “there is a life out there after the show. So I think that's what more important. We work and we live, that's life, eh."
He believes Joniver will still be able to achieve his dream to prove himself as a performer.
“He's a good artist, he's a good singer, he hasn't let me down,” Bamboo said.
Meanwhile, another Team Bamboo member, Rita Martinez, is also going through a tough time.
Rita took over Joniver's spot in the competition, and she is worried that she will be bashed by the supporters of Joniver.
Bamboo also told Rita: "Stay away from the negativity, just focus on the now, 'yong moment na 'yon. Ang dami niyang kailangan isipin ngayon."
"Ako, this is her moment, this next one. I just want her to shine. So this round lets see, kung 'yong song na pinili ko kay Rita, if she will be redeemed by that. I'm wishing her the best," he added.
