Kuya Germs’ condition ‘improving’ after mild stroke

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - The condition of veteran TV host and occasional actor German Moreno is improving, days after he suffered from a mild stroke.

Thus said his son, Federico Moreno, in a statement sent to ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “The Buzz” on Sunday.

Moreno, also known as Kuya Germs, suffered from a mild stroke on Friday, January 2. He is currently confined at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.

Federico said that as of Sunday, his father's condition is “improving very well” although he is not yet allowed to entertain visitors. He said Moreno is currently undergoing therapy.

The complete statement reads: “He is improving very well. Food intake better today. Very faint improvement with his right hand/fingers. At last, he slepy well last night. High spirits than yesterday. All is well with Papa.”

In a report published Sunday, STAR entertainment editor Ricky Lo wrote “the next 48 hours are critical” for Moreno.

“Doctors are keeping a close watch over Germs. 100 percent of his right arm is affected and his right leg, 50/50. He suffers from a slight slur and facial distortion, that’s why doctors said that the next 48 hours are critical,” Lo quoted Marichu “Manay Ichu” Maceda as saying.

A number of netizens also sent their well wishes to Moreno over social media.

On Wednesday night, Moreno joined home network GMA-7‘s New Year’s countdown at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Moreno is the host of the long-running late night show “Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman.”
