Kristoffer, Julian Japanese teachers for a day

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - GMA Artist Center stars Kristoffer Martin and Julian Trono took time off from their busy schedules to share love with the beneficiaries of World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific (WYAAP) last Dec. 6.

This year, WYAAP partnered with Kythe-Ateneo for its annual Christmas Outreach. Themed Christmas Around the World, the event organized by Kythe-Ateneo, was put together to help the children beneficiaries experience different cultures from the countries represented by partner organizations. The Japan-themed WYAAP booth featured Japanese writing and origami making for the kids.

Kristoffer and Julian taught the children how to make origami and wrote Japanese characters with them. They also performed a short dance number for the children and their parents.

“You all are such an inspiration to me and I admire you because you are bravely fighting,” Kristoffer said, addressing the children.

Meanwhile, despite feeling under the weather, Julian still graced the event.

“What I am feeling is nothing compared to what these children are feeling. I want to make them happy, even just for a while,” Julian said.

With the help of WYAAP, the ambassadors also distributed gift bags with coloring books, a set of crayons and pencils for the children.

World Youth Alliance is a global coalition of young people promoting human dignity in policy and culture and builds solidarity among the youth from developed and developing countries. The Asia Pacific headquarters is located in Quezon City, Philippines.

Kythe-Ateneo is the student arm of Kythe Foundation, Inc., a non-stock, non-profit organization aimed towards improving the quality of life, among hospitalized children with cancer and other chronic illnesses.
