MANILA, Philippines - Before tying the knot with long-time girlfriend Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes first returns as Makoy in the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles.”
The movie, which also stars Isabelle Daza, Ramon Bautista and Abra, among others, is a sequel to the 2012 movie “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles.”
As with the first film, “Kubot” is directed by Erik Matti.
The Dingdong Dantes-starrer competes with “My Big Bossing’s Adventures,” a movie that stars Vic Sotto and his girlfriend Marian.
But Dingdong does not look at the impending competition between their films.
“Yung entry niya ay susuportahan ko rin. And ganun din naman siya, likewise,” he said in a movie interview.
The first “Aswang Chronicles” is notable for being shot entirely in green screen chroma key. Dingdong said “Kubot” will also be special effects-heavy.
“Since high in special effects siya, kailangan talaga mabusisi at mahabang panahon ang kailangan para mapaganda lalo ang movie,” he said.
This is Dingdong’s third Metro Manila Film Festival entry in the last four years; he also starred in “Segunda Mano” with Kris Aquino and “One More Try” with Angelica Panganiban and Angel Locsin.
