Aicelle, Jonalyn Aliw awardees

MANILA, Philippines - GMA Artist Center stars Aicelle Santos and Jonalyn Viray triumphed at the recently-concluded Aliw Awards 2014 held at the Solaire Resorts and Casino last December 1.

Aicelle was named Best Actress in a Musical Production for her role in the hit rock musical, Rak of Aegis. Aicelle played the role of Aileen, a promodizer, who is caught between finding true love and fulfilling her dreams.

With a brilliant comictouch, Aicelle played the role with great conviction. She was able to dazzle the audience through her heartfelt and powerful rendition of the pop-rock band’s songs. And for someone who once dreamed of being a famous musical perfomer and eventually reaching her dreams, Aicelle intensely relates to Aileen.

Meanwhile, Jonalyn dared to be fearless again. The powerhouse belter made sure that things are sweeter the second time around, and her performance for the repeat concert proved it true.

Winning the Best Female Performance in a Concert from Aliw Awards 2014 is just one of her accomplishments this year.  The  song, Help Me Get Over, that was used as theme song for GMA 7’s My Husband’s Lover, also won the sixth PMPC Star Awards for Music as Song of the Year.

The Fearless Diva featured some of her favorite artists and made her own rendition of their famous hits. Ariana Grande, Beyoncé Knowles and Mariah Carey are just few of her inspirations.
