What Micah Muñoz dreams to play
MANILA, Philippines - He dreams to play the role of a serial killer, but Micah Muñoz, 31, known as Kuya Joma, the driver of Ser Chief (played by Richard Yap), in the just-concluded ABS-CBN TV series Be Careful With My Heart, is not joking.
Last year, Micah, known for his Nescafé TV commercial, played Aron, a member of a drugs syndicate in the Singaporean police action-drama TV series, Point of Entry, produced by Mediacorp.
Before Be Careful With My Heart, he was seen in some ABS-CBN teleseryes like Prinsesa ng Banyera, Dyosa and Rosalka.
He also did a commercial movie, OMG (Oh My Girl), a romantic comedy film produced by Regal Entertainment and directed by Dante Nico Garcia with Ogie Alcasid and Judy Ann Santos in the lead roles, and a few indie films, like Bala Bala for the 2009 Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival and Captive, the 2012 French-Filipino drama film directed by Brillante Mendoza and starring Isabelle Huppert.
“I miss doing an indie film,” said Micah, adding that, “it gives a fulfillment as an actor.”
On stage acting, he joined the Repertory Philippines when he was only 21 years old and he used to teach acting lessons there.
The charming Bacolodnon is a marketing and communications management student at San Beda College Manila. He is a devout Christian.
“My maternal grandfather was a pastor,” said Micah, whose name is taken from a Biblical character.
On weekends, he plays golf or hangs out with some friends, or goes to a mango farm in Bacolod for family get-togethers.
He does not read a lot of books. But he paints. “I plan to have a painting exhibit in the near future and the proceeds of which will go to East Avenue Medical Center’s Tahan-Tahanan, a halfway home for cancer-stricken children being assisted by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and other NGOs and concerned groups and individuals. I mentioned it to Dr. Marvie Abesamis (Tahan-Tahanan’s medical director) and she thanked me in advance.”
Interestingly, it was his co-star in Be Careful With My Heart, veteran actress Gloria “Manang Fe” Sevilla, who invited him to cheer up kids at Tahan-Tahanan. He was the first celebrity volunteer to arrive on time then.
“I want to go back to Tahan-Tahanan,” he said.
Actually, he loves to be “on time and precise.” That’s why he collects watches, especially the vintage ones. His oldest watch is a 1970 Omega.
He admitted that he misses going to the central market in Bacolod to buy pasalubong but he could not do it now without being noticed.
As to the sexiest part of his body, he said it is “my eyes” for they serve as the windows to one’s soul.
Finally, what does she like in a girl?
“She has to be charming, witty, good conversationalist and mabango (fresh-smelling). She must know how to cook. Sabayan niya ako sa pagkain. I like to eat seafood, like crabs and shrimps,” he said with contagious laughter.
