Ice cream vendor, working student instant millionaires in It’s Showtime

MANILA, Philippines -  Christmas has come early for two madlang people in It’s Showtime after they won P1M  on two consecutive days in the noontime program’s newest segment Isang Tanong, Isang Milyon.

Roberto Bulanhagui, who has been an ice cream vendor for 40 years in Luneta, was hailed as the segment’s first-ever millionaire last Nov. 19 after correctly guessing and giving the answer “Earth” to the mystery question “Ang kontinenteng Antarctica ay sa anong planeta makikita?” before it was even revealed.

Roberto said that since he was a kid, he has been selling dirty ice cream, a small business that was passed along to him by his father and grandfather. He provides for his family with the P300 that he earns each day, but it still able to send to school all of his five kids, one of whom has already finished college. Because of this, the program’s hosts praised him for his perseverance, integrity and for being an inspiration to all Filipinos.

He also stated that he would use the prize money to pay for his kids’ tuition and the medical bills of his diabetic mother.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jobelle Gervacio, meanwhile, became the segment’s second millionaire last Nov. 20. She is completing her MBA in Marketing Management at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The aspiring teacher gave the correct answer “Dina Bonnevie” to the mystery question “Sinong aktres ang nanay nina Oyo Boy at Danica”?

Jobelle’s victory even felt surreal for her as she walked away with P1M after fulfilling her dream of appearing on TV. She also works at an online gaming company to support her graduate education.

Those who want to join the segment and get their chance to win P1M, audition for Isang Milyon, Isang Tanong from Mondays to Fridays, 4 to 6 p.m. at the ABS-CBN Audience Entrance. Just bring a valid ID and look for Bing Ramos or Danjosh Zacarias.

It’s Showtime airs at 12:15 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays and 12 noon on Saturdays on ABS-CBN.
