Derek Ramsay on son: He already called me 'dad'
MANILA, Philippines — Derek Ramsay is happy that his relationship with his 11-year-old son is improving.
He said this a few months after his ex-partner Mary Christine Jolly filed a complaints against him over alleged violence against women and children. Derek, meanwhile, had claimed he did not have the chance to exercise his rights as a father to his son.

Yet last month, they were able to settle the issue.
"He already called me 'dad' so that's great," he said when asked how his relationship with his son is in an interview on Friday.
"I'll see Austin next weekend because I'll be in a frisbee tournament. I got to spend two days with him and he's gonna have three days straight with me this weekend."
Derek relates that his son is not very fond of sports, so during their time together he'll try to get him into sports.
"I have an opportunity now to be a father which wasn't given to me before," he said. "So I'll maximize the time that I have because he's leaving in December for Dubai. He'll be starting school in Dubai in January."
As for his relationship with ex-partner Mary Christine, Derek said they're "civil" with each other.
Still, the actor said he's hoping that someday they can be friends.
"I mean genuine friends. I'd like that and for Austin's sake I want that but you can't do that overnight. A lot of things happened that hurt me, hurt Austin, so it's gonna be a process," he shared.
