MANILA, Philippines – Antoinette Taus believes it's about time Dingdong Dantes settles down with Marian Rivera.
During the press conference for the local stage production of the musical “Grease,” Antoinette revealed her ex-boyfriend Dingdong have long talked to her about wanting to marry the GMA-7 actress.
“I'm really happy for them. I wish them the best. Years ago pa lang, nakausap ko na si Dong about yung relationship nila ni Marian. Kinukwento nga niya sa akin how much he loves her and how great they,” she told Philstar.com and other members of the press on Wednesday.
She added, “Dati pa lang sinasabi na niya sa akin na, 'Hay naku, I think I'm gonna marry her, gusto ko na bumili ng singsing'.”
Antoinette further said: “So I've always been waiting for this day to come. And I'm glad that they're finally doing it. I think it's about time.”
Dingdong and Marian announced their engagement last August. They are set to get married this December.
The 34-year-old actress, who recently returned to the Philippines after staying in the States for several years, has remained good friends with Dingdong. The two, a popular on-screen love team during the early 2000s, were sweethearts until their breakup in 2005.
“I think maybe kasi nung kami before, we were together not just like, 'Oh, I'm in love with you.' We actually liked each other as individuals, as human beings,” Antoinette said of her friendship with Dingdong. “Me, bilib ako sa kanya, sa talent niya, kung paano siya as a person, as a man. I feel like when you take away the dating part, nagre-remain pa rin yung respect mo sa tao.”
“It's a good thing. There's so much hate in the world. Let's all get along and love each other and be friends,” she quipped.
Antoinette is set to play Betty Rizzo in the local production of “Grease.” Produced by 9Works Theatricals, the stage musical also stars Tippy Dos Santos, Guji Lorenzana, Rafa Siguion-Reyna and Steven Silva.

“Grease” will be staged Fridays and weekends from November 15 to December 7 at the RCBC Plaza in Makati City.
The project is Antoinette's first since her return to the country earlier this year. It's also a theater comeback of sorts for the actress, having done local productions such as “Les Miserables” and “The Little Mermaid.” She is also set to record an album and do a TV show.
“I love music. I love the 50s. And the fact that it's 'Grease.' Siguro if it's any other musical, baka pinagisipan ko pa. Pero with this, I was like, 'What, “Grease?” Yes!',” Antoinette said. “It's exciting. It's a challenge. It's very fulfilling kasi napakahirap ng ginagawa namin pero napakasaya rin. “Everyday I go home feeling proud and fulfilled. It's an amazing experience.”
Asked if she's currently dating someone, Antoinette admits there is someone who inspires her at the moment. But her focus is on her craft as an artist, especially with her renewed showbiz career in the Philippines.
“Hindi ko talaga priority. My plate is full with so much work. And actually, my craft is something that really inspires me and drives me. It's what I live for,” she said. “Kailangan kung darating man yung love, kailangan worth it.”
Antoinette also said: “I feel like I'm right where I should be right now.”
