MANILA, Philippines - Students from the Far Eastern University (FEU) topped Sta. Lucia Department Store’s recently-concluded intercollegiate cookfest, Spoonful of Flavors. FEU brought home the Gold Spoon Award which consisted of P10,000 worth of gift certificates (GCs) and products plus a trophy. The group, headed by coach Romeo Apostol, consists of Lawrence Ehman Lagamson and Ephraim Joseph Dingle.
The Silver Spoon Award went to the Professional Academy for Culinary Education which won P 7,000 worth of GCs and products plus a trophy. La Consolacion College of Manila brought home the Bronze Spoon Award which consists of P 5,000 worth of GCs, products and a trophy.
Aside from the winners, participating schools are South East ASEAN College, Professional Academy for Culinary Education, Jose Rizal University, Arellano University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina and the College of Arts and Sciences of Asia & the Pacific.
The chef-judges are Redj Baron, food consultant, chef instructor at Moderne Culinaire Academy and Academy Asia, columnist at Cook Magazine and host of UNTV’s Cook Eat Right; Irene Fernandez, entrepreneur and chef instructor at Chefs Den Culinary Institute; and Mac Dowell Labrador, chef endorser at Appenzel Incorporated’s Menu condiments and soup mixes.
The cookfest is presented by MEYER, Ocean Glassware, Anolon, Wilmax, Elba Cookers from Italy, San Remo Pasta, Twinings, Menu Minutong Sarap, Top Chef’s Solution, pinay.com and wheninmanila.com.
