Quick Change wins Best Feature Film in Denmark Filmfest

MANILA, Philippines - Quick Change by Eduardo W. Roy Jr. (photo) won the Lili Award for Best Feature Film at the 29th Mix Copenhagen/LesbianGayBiTrans Film Festival last Saturday, Oct. 12, in Denmark.  

Last February, the film won the Internet Press Award at the 20th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France.

Produced by Ferdinand Lapuz, Quick Change was a Cinemalaya 2013 entry in the New Breed Section where it won the Special Jury Prize, Best Sound for Michael Idioma and Best Screenplay for Roy. The cast includes Mimi Juareza, Jun-Jun Quintana, Miggs Cuaderno and Francine Garcia. Juareza, a transgender who won the Best Actor Award, plays John Lloyd Cruz’s gay father in Star Cinema’s The Trial.

Quick Change will be screened in the forthcoming 51st Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and 34th Hawaii International Film Festival (Spotlight on the Philippines) and will compete in Ukraine and at the 22nd Brazil Film Festival Diversity of Sexuality this November. — Celso De Guzman Caparas
