MANILA, Philippines – Daniel Matsunaga, the recent winner of “Pinoy Big Brother All In,” has been single for over two years now, since his breakup with actress Heart Evangelista.
But 25-year-old model-actor is not in any hurry to find love. He would rather focus on the “blessings” that came his way after his stint in the ABS-CBN reality show.
“I've never been happy like this in my whole life. Siyempre, there's always a time for everything. In God's time, I will have my relationship,” he told members of the press during the launch of his newest endorsement, the canned tuna brand San Marino Tuna Flakes, on Saturday, October 11.
The Brazilian-Japanese model is currently working on two projects: the latest installment of the horror movie series Shake, Ratlle and Roll and the Kim Chiu-Xian Lim movie “Past Tense.”
“Talagang masaya ako kasi it's what I've always dreamed of and it's happening now in the Philippines,” Daniel said.
He also said, “Sobrang (overwhelming), sobrang nakakaiyak kasi talagang I've never expected this in my entire life. For me, it's such a blessing for me. If I'm in Brazil, I may never have this. Talagang masaya ako rito.”
Of course, he still sees himself being in a relationship in the near future. Daniel shares his breakup with Heart did not traumatize him into entering a new relationship; he simply wants to take his time.
“Siyempre, I'm gonna stay here for many, many years. My plan is to really bring my family here,” he said. “I'm saving for that. May asawa ang kapatid ko dito. Siyempre, my plan is to really have an asawa dito sa Pilipinas din. Waiting, waiting lang.”
Asked why he would want to marry a Filipina, Daniel said: “You guys are so connected to your family. You guys are very God-fearing, maganda, mabait, malambing, matalino.”
“Nasa inyo na raw ang lahat,” he quipped.
