MANILA, Philippines – Netizens have dubbed her “hakot queen.”
But despite winning majority of the special awards during the pageant, 24-year-old Valerie Weigmann said she did not expect to take home the Miss World Philippines 2014 crown.
The pageant's coronation night was held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday night.
The “Eat Bulaga” co-host and former “Pinoy Big Brother” contestants bested 25 other candidates for the title—including heavy favorites such as Lorraine Kendrickson, Rachel Peters, Nicole Donesa, and Christine Balaguer.
Kendrickson, Peters, and Donesa ended up in the top five, with Miss Photogenic winners Nelda Ibe.
Megan Young crowned Weigmann as the new Miss World Philippines.
