Jeff James: Hitmaker from Hawaii
MANILA, Philippines - GMA Records has released a 12-track album titled Go Go Go by Hawaiian hitmaker and recording artist Jeff James a.k.a. Jeffro. For the album cut, he teamed up with international reggae recording artist Da Ville (Mirrors, Always in My Mind) for their version of the dance anthem from the islands which may become party song of the year.
Famous Hawaii song and Jeff’s original Tagalog composition Isa Pang Love Song is featured in the album which was recorded at Chuck James Music Studio, Hawaii and Rockman Music Studio, Pasig City.
The multi-talented Jeff, who calls himself a one-man band (he plays the guitar, ukelele, timbales and drums), gained social media popularity in the country by covering Tagalog songs, the most recent one is his own Pinoy version of Happy which earned over a thousand views in six days of release.
Presently, he is No. 1 artist in reverbination Philippine charts for R&B.
Jeff is the son of Chuck James who owns a popular music studio in Hawaii. His mother is a Pinay from Pangasinan. Every now and then, Jeff would visit the north to explore his roots and the Pinoy musicality.
Back home, Jeff formed his own band Talk To You Music (TTYM) and in 2010, the band’s debut single Hawaii Girls hit the No. 1 spot in the music charts. The following year, TTYM won in Mai Tai Rumble, the biggest battle of the bands in Hawaii, which doubled the band’s popularity.
Among the awards Jeff has received include the 2011 Nahoku Hanohano Award (Hawaii Grammy Awards) for Hawaiian Girls, the 2013 Top Brand Awards Most Inspiring International Male Performer of the Year and the 2013 People’s Choice Asia Award for Best New Male Recording Artist.
