More Gutz in Season 2

MANILA, Philippines - The “bickering” mother-and-daughter team of Ruffa Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama returns to It Takes Gutz To Be a Gutierrez with more interesting tidbits about Ruffa’s blossoming lovelife.

In the teaser, Annabelle is heard asking Ruffa “Are you pregnant because you’re so fat?” and giving out comments like “Ruffa, hindi ko siya gusto sa iyo, masyado siyang bata.”

In an interview with entertainment journalists after the episode preview, Ruffa vehemently denied that she’s pregnant with her new boyfriend, whom she refused to reveal.

“I’m not pregnant. I gained weight because I spent some time in Europe and ang sasarap ng pagkain doon. When she asked me if I’m buntis, I said, ‘Ma, no, I’m not pregnant. You’re so gross.’ Lagi kaming may arguments kasi I’m a tiger and she’s a dragon but at the end of the day, we settle our differences. With regards to my special someone, is he Pinoy or foreigner? Is he younger than me or older than me? You have to watch the show,” Ruffa said at the sidelines of the launching of the second season of It Takes Gutz To Be a Gutierrez, which will be aired tonight at 9 on the E! Channel.

The rest of the Gutierrezes will likewise return to the show — the patriarch Eddie, Richard and girlfriend Sarah Lahbati with their son Zion, Rocky and pregnant girlfriend Alex, and Raymond.

Ruffa said it doesn’t matter to her whether her boyfriend is a foreigner or not, younger than her or older, “as long as we get along well and he loves me and my two kids Venice and Lorin. ”

“Ako naman OK naman sa akin to date younger men. My ex-husband Yilmaz is younger than me and evensome of my former beaus. With regards to the nationality, OK lang sa akin ang Pinoy, but with foreigners, they’re not that ‘intimidated’ by me compared to Pinoys,” Ruffa added.

In the second season, the conflict between Annabelle and Sarah’s mother Ester Lahbati is brought to the fore.

In a teaser, Annabelle was shown crying, saying “Alam ko Ester na ayaw mo ako maging mother-in-law ni Sarah, pero kailangan matanggap mo na ko.”

Richard, in an interview, said that the scene in which he and Sarah were arguing about the fray between their mothers, was shot right after their vacation with Zion at an undisclosed place.

“That’s why in the teaser, you saw me talking to Sarah uttering to her ‘We’re back to reality’ and I was explaining my mom’s side and asking why her mom had to post all the negative stuff about my mom on social media, and Sarah was defending her mom. Will we resolve and fix these issues? Watch the show,” related Richard.

Richard is excited about their new director Karren Appathurai Wiggins from Australia.

“It’s a whole new production team. Viewers will get to know the family better. In the first season, more of trial and error kami and introduction, this time, we have a direction and the director really squeezes out the truth in us,” he said.

Asked if he will propose to Sarah on the show, Richard grinned and said, “We’ll see, we have 10 episodes, so we’ll see.”

Raymond, for his part, is pretty excited too about the latest season.

“In Season 2, we have the biggest change as we’ve hired an international team to make sure the show has the best quality. We’ve leveled up in terms of global standards, our director has megged Australia’s Got Talent, Big Brother Australia and Real Housewives of Melbourne. She is legit, we trust her,” Raymond said.

There’s an episode following him in London where he took up a short course Trend Forecasting at the Central St. Martins with dear friends Liz and Laureen Uy.

“Trend forecasting teaches you intuition to know what’s coming up next in music, fashion, architecture. It’s a wide subject and I learned a lot from that. In the second season, people will know me better because when I’m hosting, people see that I’m serious but on the show, they’ll see me as funny and outgoing. It Takes GUTZ is a venue to showcase my personality,” he said.

What about his life?

“I have no time for love, I’m busy with 71 Gramercy and other business ventures,” he replied.

Meanwhile, the family matriarch Annabelle said she learned how to speak a lot of English this time around.

“Day, panay ang English ko dito dahil sinabi sa akin ng director, mag-English ako dito,” Annabelle said.
