Gabby Eigenmann respects Andi, Jake breakup

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- Gabby Eigenmann doesn't want to meddle with the recent breakup of his sister Andi Eigenmann and Jake Ejercito.

Reports came out that Andi confirmed the breakup, and admitted that she was hurt.

"It happens," Gabby said about the breakup in an interview on Tuesday. "Sa akin lang naman, whatever will make them happy. Tried and tested [naman sila]. When they were together, they were happy. If being away from each other or being separated will make them happy as well, e, di doon ako."

Gabby said he has seen how the two supported each other in the trying times of their lives. Jake was there during Andi's pregnancy, while the latter supported the former amid the controversy of his family.

"Pero siyempre nanghihinayang," Gabby admitted, smiling. "But at the end of the day greatest love nila ang isa't isa, e. So hintayin natin, baka maging sila ulit," he concluded, laughing.

Meanwhile, the Kapuso actor said that since his father Mark Gil's death, he somehow became in charge of looking after his siblings. However, he knows when to draw the line, just like with Andi's case.

"Hindi naman ako nangingialam sa personal nilang buhay," he said. "So kapag kailangan lang nila ako, when they want me to be involved with their personal lives, I'm there. Pero hindi ako nakikialam."

Their father has imparted with them different lessons in life. With Gabby, there are two lessons that he will always remember.

"Sa personal side, ang in-advice sa akin ni daddy is be a good parent to your children," he said. "Kasi I started early, e, I started being an independent at the age of 14. So sabi niya, 'do what makes you happy,' but make sure na when you're happy hindi lang sa sarili mo, pati mga tao sa paligid mo."

On his professional life, "hindi ko makakalimutan na sinabi niya sa amin since nagsimula kami sa showbiz is hone your craft. Parang don't teach others, but let them learn from you," he said.

For now, Gabby is happy that he lived up to that lesson, since he needed to work on GMA series "Dading" while still grieving his dad's death. Now that the show's in its last two weeks "at least now mas may time ako to grieve... palagay ko nang tama," he said.
