Diego Loyzaga hopes Cesar Montano, Sunshine Cruz make peace

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — It has been a while since Cesar Montano was seen by the public, after he and wife Sunshine Cruz split up.

It was early last year when the two had a fall out, following reports that Cesar engaged in an illicit affair with starlet Krista Miller.

Though Cesar has been under the showbiz radar lately, he gets to spend more time with his son, Diego Loyzaga.

"He’s happy, I see that he’s happy. I’m happy that he’s happy," Diego said in an interview on Thursday. "So nakikita ko siyang masaya siya, nagba-basketball kami, lumalabas kami, okay kami."

Diego, however, said there are days when he sees his dad bothered.

Ako, I don’t get to see them anymore," he said.

Still, Diego knows his place in the family and refuses to meddle meddle in his parent's problems. His concern is how the situation, coupled with the public's scathing remarks, would affect his three younger sisters.

"Ako naiinis ako kasi nakikita kong naaapektuhan mga kapatid ko," he said.

Now that he gets to spend more time with his dad, Diego said he gets a lot of advice from him, but not about girls.

"He doesn’t give me advice na one at a time [sa girls], kasi alam niya na alam ko na 'yon," he replied, when asked if Cesar advises him to take it easy with girls.

Diego, having entered his parents' industry, will soon star in TV5's "WATTPAD Presents" episode "Mr. Popular Meets Ms. Nobody."

The 19-year-old actor said he's still under Star Magic, and his talent management arranged the deal with TV5.

Unlike his usual roles, Diego said he is the "martyr" this time around.

Mr. Popular Meets Ms. Nobody also stars Shaira Mae, Pam Mendiola, Lander Vera Perez, Shirley Fuentes, and Carlos Morales. It airs Monday to Friday, starting September 29, 7PM.
