Vhong Navarro admits crying over Lee, Cornejo bail grant

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines – The fight goes on, said TV host-comedian Vhong Navarro as the Taguig City Regional Trial Court allows Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, and Zimmer Raz to post bail.

This is in connection with the illegal detention case filed by the ABS-CBN talent.

“Tuluy-tuloy pa rin naman yung kaso namin. Siguro, andyan naman yung justice. Kaya lang, siguro, baku-bako lang ang daan,” Vhong said in a taped interview aired on ABS-CBN news program “Bandila” aired Tuesday night.

Lee and Raz were released on Tuesday after posting a P500,000 bail. Cornejo, who is still raising the amount, has not been able to post bail as of Wednesday morning.

Vhong admitted that he cried over the court's decision. “Syempre nalungkot, na-depress. Naiyak nga ako nung gabi. Hindi ko alam kung saan galing yung luha, bigla na lang bumagsak,” he said.

The “It's Showtime” co-host added, “Ngayon, unti-unti nang nagsi-sink in na ulit... Babalik doon kung ano yung naranasan ko sa loob ng condominium, yung mga paratang na binigay sa akin, di ba? Yung pagtututok sa akin ng baril, yung kung anu-anong sinabing pwedeng mangyari sa pamilya ko at sa akin.”

The 37-year-old comedian said he appreciates his fans who continue to support him through his ordeal.

“Natutuwa ako kasi yung pagdadasal nila, patuloy pa rin dun,” Vhong said. “Kasi ako, napakasimple kong tao. Ano ako e, gusto ko masaya lang.”

He added, “Ayoko ng tao na may inaagrabyado.”

“May mga binibintang sa akin na isang akong rapist—ang sakit nun, ang sakit nun. Alam ko at alam ng Panginoon na hindi ko ginawa yun pero ibibintang sa iyo.”

In an TV interview last Monday, Vhong's lawyer Alma Mallonga said they were “shocked” and “dismayed” over the court's decision to grant bail to Lee, Cornejo, and Raz.

“I have to be very frank. This is, of course, not a good development for the prosecution,” she said.
