MANILA, Philippines – Actor and TV host Robin Padilla admits there have been offers for him run for run for public office. However, he said he's closing his doors to politics.
“Rebolusyonaryo ako. Hindi ako politician,” he told members of the press in a media gathering recently. “Hindi mababago ang Pilipinas ng politika.”
Asked why he's not keen on becoming a politician, Robin said: “Unang-una, ang mga anak ko ay nag-aaral sa abroad. Ang sweldo ng isang politician, hindi ka makapagpapa-aral sa abroad. Hindi kaya yun.”
“Yung mga binibili na organic na gulay ni Mariel, kamamahal nun. Hindi yung kakayanin ng isang sweldo ng politician,” he quipped.
“Hindi ako magnanakaw. Hindi po natin kaya yun,” Robin said.
Robin further said that he believes the money of the government is for those who have nothing.
“Hindi ako naniniwala na kung gusto mong makatulong, meron ka naman, ay kukuha ka pa ng pera sa gobyerno,” he said, explaining how he turned down a position in the National Housing Authority offered by Vice President Jejomar Binay.

“Binigyan ako ni Vice President Binay noon ng posisyon sa Housing. Ang sabi ko kay Vice President, ‘Magpapatayo na lang po ako ng housing. Hindi na ako hihingi sa gobyerno.’ Ganun na lang, sa sarili ko na lang,” he explained.
The new host of TV5's reality talent program “Talentadong Pinoy” (which will start airing on Saturday, August 16), meanwhile, refused to further comment on actor Aljur Abrenica, the ex-boyfriend of his daughter Kylie Padilla.
There are rumors that Aljur is planning to move to ABS-CBN after he went to court to end his existing contract with GMA-7.
Robin, who threw shade against Aljur in a previous interview with the entertainment press, has an existing contract with ABS-CBN
“Ayoko na magkomento tungkol sa taong yun,” he said.
Robin added, “Tapusin niya muna ang problema niya sa channel seven. Kapag tapos na ang problema niya sa channel seven, saka niya ako problemahin.”
