Krissy and Erika to teens: 'Embrace the real you'

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- With social media occupying much of the waking time of the younger generation, looking good enough to post photos on these networks has nearly become a must for everyone, especially the young ones.

For these young people, getting less "likes"  could mean a hit to their self-esteem.  Owing to this, it is important to teach the youngsters to value themselves and learn how to handle that awkward puberty stage.

With this in mind,  Johnson & Johnson launched the “See the Real Me” campaign, where they aim to educate the teens on how to handle these bodily changes.

“Our children are growing up in a world where they feel embarrassed and concerned over bodily changes that are actually normal and manageable,” said Gabrielle Solomon, Clean & Clear brand manager.

“They will think that so long as you are not the traditional, flawless kind of beautiful, or if you don’t work hard to hide your flaws, it will be difficult to stand out and show the world the real you.”

So to be able to inspire the teens, Johnson & Johnson will visit hundreds of schools around the country and conduct different activities to encourage the younger generation to come out of their shell and embrace their real selves.

The campaign kicked off in Makati Highschool, where some student leaders took the lead in embracing the changes in their body, and not let these things hurdle them on being achievers.

Brand ambassadors Krissy and Erika Villongco attended the event and  performed the “See the Real Me” anthem.

“We’re really happy to be part of this campaign because Filipino teenage girls today need a strong support system,” Erika said. “It feels good to know that J&J is making them and their emotional well-being a priority.”

At the end of this campaign, Solomon hopes that “the teens  stop being afraid and have the courage to show their real selves by shifting the mindset to celebrating puberty as positive milestones in a new chapter of teens’ lives.”
