5 Seconds Of Summer is hot boy band today
Australia has joined the boy band race and is winning big. The boys from Down Under called 5 Seconds Of Summer are on a major roll. Take a look at what is happening nowadays to Luke Hemmings on vocals and guitars; Michael Clifford on guitar and vocals; Calum Hood on bass guitar and vocals; and Ashton Irwin on drums and vocals, collectively known as 5 Seconds Of Summer.
5 Seconds Of Summer debuts on Billboard 200 Chart at No. 1 and its first week sales of 258,643 copies for debut album is biggest ever by an Australian band. It is now the biggest new artist debut of 2014.
The boy band announces the Rock Out With Your Socks Out summer 2015 North American headlining tour. It is 5 Seconds Of Summer’s first-ever headlining arena performance at the Forum in Los Angeles this November, 2014 that sells out instantly upon announcement and a second show was added due to popular demand. And to think these boys are still on tour in North America this summer with One Direction.
5 Seconds Of Summer is No. 1 globally on iTunes in 76 countries. As of this writing, the album has already sold 1.5 million units worldwide while the singles have already sold over two million.
5 Seconds Of Summer has acquired a nickname. The boy band’s fans now often refer to them as 5SOS, pronounced 5-Sauce. The true origin of its strange name remains vague, though. The story that seems closest to the truth is 5 Seconds Of Summer is how long would a kiss with a girl named Summer lasts. The answer is five seconds.
5 Seconds Of Summer, as mentioned earlier is now on tour with One Direction in the British lads’ Where We Are World Tour. One Direction gave 5 Seconds Of Summer its biggest break. So with the group’s emergence as a possible rival, do you think that One Direction is now regretting its decision to have these Aussie lads with them on the same stage? The problem with boy bands is they grow up and One Direction has grown up. So bring the next one in.
Those of us who will not be able to watch today’s fastest rising boy band live in those shows with One Direction can instead catch 5 Seconds Of Summer at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25 at MTV Pinoy. The group will perform its new single Amnesia. 5 Seconds Of Summer is also nominated in the MTV Artist to Watch category. Also, set to perform are Maroon 5, Usher, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea and Beyoncé, who will be the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award this year.
5 Seconds Of Summer is a good example of how online promotions can work for a band. These boys had no label deal nor radio or TV exposure when they started. So what they did was to upload videos of their original works on line. From there they managed to build a massive following via Facebook and Twitter. Those songs they uploaded became their first single releases and made up their big selling EP She Looks So Perfect; Heartache On The Big Screen, The Only Reason and the best of the lot Disconnected.
Only She Looks So Perfect has been retained for the album release. The boys, who write, perform and produce their own materials came up with several new songs to make up the album also titled 5 Seconds Of Summer that is now making chart history. I am not surprised. They make fun upbeat music you can dance to or sing along to. It is a bit pop, mostly rock with punk overtones and made with such remarkable polish.
From opener She Looks So Perfect through to Don’t Stop and the entire album you get a punchy, good time vibe. The energy level is so high that even the slow rockers like Beside You and Amnesia will not get anybody to sit down. Also included are Good Girls, Kiss Me Kiss Me, 18, Everything I Didn’t Say, End Up Here, Long Way Home, Heartbreak Girl, Social Casualty, English Love Affair, Never Be and Voodoo Doll.
5 Seconds Of Summer has since then gone down to number four in Billboard Magazine’s Top 200 Albums listing but it is still enjoying a great ride in the Top 20. These boys know what they are doing. 5 Seconds Of Summer made an album you can listen to again and again. And they did it all by themselves. Their young fans are going crazy. They also look nice and wholesome and might just serve as good examples. The kids are happy and parents are relieved.
