A tribute to the post-war (1946) actors and directors
Rudely interrupted (if not wiped out by World War II), the local movie industry was revived in 1946, thanks to the concerted efforts of producers, directors, actors and other industry workers.
The industry is celebrating its 95th anniversary this year. Here’s a rejoinder (also by contributor Celso de Guzman Caparas) to this corner’s feature, A Tribute to Post-War (1946) Actresses, published last April 21. Honored in this piece are the actors, directors and others who brought joy and smile to Filipinos through their films. Three of them would be proclaimed National Artists, and one became a senator and a diplomat.
