MANILA, Philippines- Edu Manzano is planning to undergo stem cell therapy and if he does so, it will not merely be for vanity, but for health too.
The actor-host said he wants to change the public's "misconception about stem-cell."
"It's not always about (retaining youth)," he said.
He even cited examples such as a "friend who has failing vision, ginawa in-inject 'yong stem cell sa mata niya mismo and now he can see, nakakapag-drive na siya."
If he pushes through with his plan, Edu would like to have stem cell therapy for his back.
"I have back ailments kasi na I got sa mga stunts ko noon," he said.
Edu emphasized that "stem cell is not always about youth, it addresses certain ailments din."
Meanwhile, Edu said he doesn't meddle with the personal lives of his children.
While the media would often ask his son Luis Manzano about plans to settle down with girlfriend Angel Locsin, Edu said he refrains from asking that question to Luis.
"Hindi ko na tinatanong 'yan," Edu replied in an interview Thursday, when asked if he's pressuring Luis to get married. "Besides, they're at the peak of their career, they're doing very well. I think they don't need any pressure."
He added that, "bahala sila, as a parent wala akong karapatan na mag-comment sa mga love life nila. Kasi sila ang makakasama ng tao habang buhay."
Edu however said the thought of having grandchildren excites him because he can now keep up with the youngsters now that he feels healthier.
"Actually, I can keep up with my children now," he said about his change of lifestyle. "So I'm very happy that I've adopted a different lifestyle. I sleep better now, I drink lots of water, ayoko na ma-stress."
The 53-year-old actor is even looking forward to his trip with his kids Luis, Abby, and Enzo, as they are planning to travel to New Zealand and Australia.
