MANILA, Philippines – The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) was brimming with moviegoers and fans during the gala premiere of Nora Aunor's “Hustisya” at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, on Saturday, August 2.
“Hustisya” is Nora's first film with the Cinemalaya—and her fourth since returning to the Philippines in 2011 after staying in the United States for several years. The veteran actress did “El Presidente” and “Thy Womb” in 2012 and “Ang Kuwento ni Mabuti” in 2013.

The film, which is one of the five films competing in the Directors Showcase category of the annual indie film fest, is directed by Joel Lamangan and written by Ricky Lee.

It also stars Rocco Nacino, Jeric Gonzalez, Romnick Sarmienta and Sunshine Dizon.

Stars of the other Cinemalaya entries also graced the gala screenings of their movies.
Audience greeted Dennis Trillo, Richard Gomez, and Derek Ramsay with warm applause during the gala screening of “The Janitor” at the CCP Main Theater on Monday, August 4.

Directed by Mike Tuviera, the film marks as Derek's first foray in independent film. Dennis, meanwhile, did previous Cinemalaya movies "Astig" and "Ang Katiwala."

Attending the screening as a guest is Kapuso actress Marian Rivera in support of Tuviera. “This is my first time to watch a Cinemalaya entry and it was indeed a great experience. Looking forward to more,” she said on her Instagram account.

Mylene Dizon also headed the cast of “Mariquina” during the gala screening of their film, also on Monday, August 4.

The 10th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival runs until August 10 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City, as well as in cinemas at Greenbelt 3, Trinoma, Alabang Town Center, and Ayala Fairview Terraces.
