Piolo Pascual: 'I'm fulfilled as it is, whatever comes'

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines – In a previous interview, Piolo Pascual revealed he can only have a girlfriend once his son Iñigo turns 18 years old. This is because of a deal he had with his son, who is currently based in the United States.

Now that Iñigo is about to turn 18 this year, the ABS-CBN actor admits he's excited to have a girlfriend.

“Hindi lang excitement (ang nararamdaman ko). I hope it happens soon. Malapit na. More than the pressure, I’m excited,” he said.

“Mapi-pressure ako na isa lang. Pero okay yun,” Piolo also quipped. “It’s fun to date and just meet new people, I guess.”

Piolo talked to members of the press during the launch of his E! News Asia Special feature which will air on September 28, Sunday at 9 p.m. on E!

The “Hawak Kamay” star said he is still “traditional when it comes to being with anyone.”

“For me, what’s important is you click. You like each other. You respect each other. You have the same faith,” Piolo said when asked about what he is looking for in a girl.

He added, “So, wala naman akong standard. Sana lang hindi niya ako mahalin bilang artista. As long as we have the same faith, we have the same God, that’s all that matters.”

Piolo added “he won’t get in a relationship with someone who doesn’t understand what I do.”

“There’s conflict. From the get-go, you know it’s not gonna work. There's a realization na hindi mo puwede pagsabayin ang mga bagay-bagay,” he explained.

To be the second Filipino celebrity to have an E! News Asia Special feature (after Anne Curtis, whose E! Asia feature aired last year) is an honor, Piolo said.

Piolo is often described by the press as mysterious and elusive. He disagrees.

“I don't know where that's coming from. Hindi naman ako misteryoso, e. Hindi lang ako makwentong tao,” he said. “Hindi ako extrovert. Hindi ako bida sa isang conversation. I'd like to listen, I'd like to be just observing. I guess that's where the (impression of being) elusive is coming from. If I'm asked, when I'm asked, I answer.”

Piolo said he's open to any possibilities if the E! News Asia Special features on him allows him to book projects  in other countries in Asia.

“As long as there's time for it, as long as makatulog ako ng six to eight hours, okay ako. This is my work, this is what I do,” he said. “If there are doors that will be opened, yeah, those are opportunities, so why not?”

Piolo added, “but I'm satisfied, I'm fulfilled as it is, whatever comes.”
