MANILA, Philippines - Known for his acting skills and charming looks, young actor Ken Chan (photo) surprised fans when he recently released a self-titled album under PolyEast Records.
With an upcoming series of album tour and mall shows, the actor released his debut album to show his gratitude towards his fans. The album includes five revivals and one original song with minus one.
The album boasts his own version of Nais Kong Malaman Mo (originally from the iconic OPM band Boyfriends), which also serves as the carrier single. Other remake songs include Truefaith’s pop original Dahil Ikaw, Ken’s version of Born for You, Tulog Na from the band Sugarfree and Ogie Alcasid’s dance classic Sumayaw, Sumunod. The album also features Paikot-ikot, the only original song penned by Kiko Salazar.
“Acting and singing have always gone hand in hand for me,” explains Ken, who says his love for music started ever since he was a kid.
Teaming up with PolyEast Records, Ken, whose musical influences include Martin Nievera, Ric Segreto, Gary V., says his aim is to give back to his fans through music. “This is my way of thanking my supporters. I want to offer them songs that they love to sing to,” he says.
As a GMA artist, Ken has received a lot of praise for his acting abilities, particularly in Rhodora X opposite Jennylyn Mercado and Yasmien Kurdi. Ken is also a regular host of the late night show, Walang Tulugan with Master Showman also shown on GMA 7. He recently released an indie film for Cinemalaya titled 1st ko si 3rd and received the German Moreno Youth Achievement Award at FAMAS 2014.
Ken Chan’s self-titled album is now available in all record bars nationwide. It is also available in digital format through iTunes.com and spinnr.ph released by Galaxy Records and PolyEast Records.
