Melissa Ricks: ‘The baby is a blessing’

MANILA, Philippines- Melissa Ricks has finally broken her silence over her pregnancy.

Earlier this week, Star Magic has confirmed that Melissa is pregnant.

In an exclusive interview with Gretchen Fulido of ABS-CBN, Melissa shared how  how she found out about her pregnancy and how her non-showbiz boyfriend reacted to it.

“Sobrang supportive,” she said about her boyfriend. “First na sinabi ko sa kanya, gano'n din, same kami ng reaction. Actually, he didn't hesitate. Wala. Siyempre, the baby is a blessing, you know. A baby coming into this world is a huge blessing to anyone.”

She also explained why she chooses to keep her relationship private saying, “I've learned also na it's better to keep your personal life to yourself. You have something to go home to, you have something to enjoy, sana maintindihan ng tao 'yon.”

Melissa met her boyfriend last year when she "decided to get out of my comfort zone,” she said. Melissa and Paul Jake Castillo had ended their relationship last year.

“I don't really go out, unless I'm with my close friends,” she said. “Iilan lang naman ang close friends ko. I'm always in my shell.

“This time, I decided, I have to go out. I have to... parang lawakan ang pag-iisip ko, to meet new people. I really wanted to start my journey being an adult,” and that’s when she met her present partner.

The 24-year-old actress knows that this news came as a surprise to everyone, but she assures them, especially her fans that “he's a good guy. Happy ako sa kanya. He makes me very happy.”
