MANILA, Philippines - “Sana po malagpasan niya itong challenge na ito.”
Thus said Alden Richards when asked to comment on Aljur Abrenica and his complaint against the Kapuso network.
Aljur went to court last week to end his contract with GMA-7, his home network since 2006 after winning the reality talent search “Starstruck.”
“Ako po, pinagpa-pray ko na sana mapagpabuti po yung mga desisyon na ginagawa niya (Aljur). Sana maging okay na po,” Alden told members of the press during the launch of Yes! Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful Stars launch on Tuesday, July 29.
He also said, “Alam kong nasa time siya ng challenge ngayon. Kailangan niya ang lahat ng suporta na makukuha niya as much as possible sa mga kaibigan niya sa showbiz, sa pamilya niya.”
There are reports that Aljur may have felt insecure of Alden, who has only been with GMA-7 since 2011 but has gotten plum roles in movies and soap operas.
His last TV show was “Carmela: Ang Pinakamagandang Babae sa Mundong Ibabaw” with Marian Rivera.
“Already, Aljur has been overtaken by actors who came after him such as Rocco Nacino, Alden Richards and even much younger ones like Miguel Tanfelix and Ruru Madrid,” Ricky Lo wrote in his column for The Philippine Star on Wednesday, July 30.
Alden and Aljur were supposed to star in the movie together.
But GMA-7 talent said there's no reason for Aljur or anyone to be insecure of him. “Siguro po meron lang siya (Aljur) hinahanap o meron siyang gustong mangyari sa career niya,” he said.
Alden added he's simply doing his job.
“Ako nagtatrabaho lang talaga. I'm just doing my best kapag binigyan ako ng project. Hindi ko po tine-take for granted, especially when it comes to soaps, movie na ginagawa ko,” he said.
“Mahal na mahal ko yung craft ko, so hindi ko siya ita-take for granted. Paghihirapan ko po talaga every project na ibigay sa akin,” Alden added.
