Why did Kris Aquino cry during PNoy’s SONA?

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- Kris Aquino explained why she got emotional during President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

On Monday’s episode of “Aquino & Abunda Tonight,” Kris said that they didn’t expect the last part of PNoy’s speech.

“Those last words that he said, they were not part of the speech,” Kris said. “Kaya talagang lalo kaming tinamaan, kasi we were not prepared to hear those words. Those were really his words.”

During the SONA, Kris and her sister Ballsy Aquino-Cruz were seen crying after PNoy said in his speech, “Alam po ni Vice President [Jejomar Binay], na noong 1987 magkasama kami, may kudeta, na-ambush po tayo doon, at tapos noon eh pangalawang buhay ko na po ito."

The Queen of All Media related that “ang totoo we don’t like August because our parents died August.”

Former president  Corazon Aquino died  on August 1, 2009 due to colon cancer, while Senator Benigno Aquino was assassinated on August 21,  1983.

So after the SONA Kris told her brother, “Great speech, but please stay alive!" to which, according to her, the President replied, “naman!”
