Swimming marathon on Aug. 16
MANILA, Philippines - Triathlete and pets lover Hanna Sanchez (photo) will hold a fund-raising swimming marathon for the benefit of Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA) Welfare Philippines. She will swim 25km (500 laps in a 50-meter pool) on Aug. 16, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the swimming pool of Enrique Razon Sports Complex, De La Salle University Manila.
In the fundraising activity, people will pledge an amount (a fixed amount, or a peso per lap) and Hanna will do the challenge of swimming 25km. After that, CARA will publish in the website (tinyurl.com/nf4vlb9) the amount of laps she will have accomplished on the event, and then people will donate.
CARA is a growing animal welfare organization that promotes and educates people about responsible pet ownership and kapon (spay/neuter) and rescues and rehabilitates animals in need on a case-to-case basis. Hanna has been a supporter of CARA for a long time now and she wanted to help out through donating her athletic talents.
Hanna is targeting around P100,000. This is her second Ultra Swim event, and the last year’s swim marathon gathered around P80,000.
