John Estrada: 'Seloso akong tatay'

MANILA, Philippines- John Estrada is fully supporting daughter Inah's showbiz career.

He revealed that he and and ex-wife Janice de Belen in now on speaking terms as they needed to discuss their daughter's career.

With Inah starring on her first show, the “Witch-A-Makulit” episode of “Wansapanataym,” John has given her a few reminders.

“[Sabi ko], seryosohin mo ang trabaho na 'to dahil puwedeng maging maganda ang buhay mo dito at marami kang matutulungan sa trabahong ito,” he said in an interview on “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” on Tuesday.

Recognizing Inah's good looks, Boy Abunda asked John's thoughts once his daughter gets suitors.

“Wala na pong oras, Tito Boy, hindi ko na po masasagot,” he joked. But in a more serious tone he admits, “seloso akong tatay, alam ng mga anak ko 'yan.”

Kris Aquino then asked him. “because you know what you did?” referring to John's infidelity in the past.

The Kapamilya actor laughed and said, “what did I do? Ano pong kasalanan ko?”, eliciting  laughter from the show's hosts.

But he turned serious saying, “honestly, Tito Boy, baka tama si Kris. Ang magnanakaw ay takot sa sariling magnanakaw. I have nothing to hide.”

John added that letting his kids be independent will be a struggle for him. He has four children with Janice and one with his wife  Priscilla Meirelles.

“Iba kapag anak mo, e,” he said. “I don't know how to explain that. Probably Kris would understand me dahil nanay siya. But ako nga hindi ko alam paano ko nakumbinsi ang parents ko, fifteen, sixteen [ako no'n] na gusto ko ng magsarili. I want to be independent.

“Pero hindi mo magawa sa sarili mong anak. For some reason hindi ko alam, kasi anak mo, e. They're precious to you.”

Meanwhile, John was also asked to comment  on Priscilla's statement that  he is “malandi but in a friendly way.”

John smiled and said he understands his wife, who is now also his manager.

“I guess nag-mature na ako. You know, there's a difference between being friendly and malandi, you know that. That's Priscilla's quote, I can be too friendly. If that's wrong, if my wife says that wrong, I'll stop being too friendly,” he said.
