MANILA, Philippines – Director Paul Soriano said he would love to work with girlfriend Toni Gonzaga in a movie.
After all, they worked together in Paul's 2009 directorial debut “A Journey Home.” He also did a cameo in Toni's 2014 box office hit movie “Starting Over Again.”
But the film director and producer would rather focus on keeping his relationship with the TV host-actress personal.
“We love working together, but as much as possible we try to separate the professional. We try to keep it as personal as possible,” he told members of the press during the launch of Toni as the newest endorser of beauty product line Pond's recently.

He's no closing his doors on the possibility of directing Toni one day. “My plan is to be with her for as long as I live. That's the plan. And if it means working together, of course, with the right project and stories, why not?” he explained.
But Paul added, “We're really trying to focus more on keeping it personal.”
The “Thelma” director cherishes the rare moments when he works with Toni, though; for instance, Paul took the opportunity to support Toni during her Pond's launch, taking photos of his girlfriend along with reporters and the entertainment media as Toni poses for a photo opportunity with the other Pond's endorsers.
“Those moments are fun. It gives us an excuse to be together,” he said.
The director and advertising professional acknowledges that their schedule can get busy. Paul, for instance, produced two Cinemalaya entries this year, while Toni is currently doing at least two regular TV shows in ABS-CBN.
“In every relationship, there are always ups and downs. But what's great with our relationship is that we make time. Especially her—sometimes she has three or four projects at the same time,” Paul said.
“She really makes time. She makes the effort to make the relationship work.”

He added, “In every relationship, as long as both are willing to make it work, it's gonna go somewhere.”
Paul also couldn't evade persistent questions about his marriage plans with Toni. But he said they don't feel pressured to take their relationship to the next level just yet.
“Definitely soon. We've been talking about it, especially the last few months. There are just more things that we want to do as boyfriend and girlfriend. And once we take that leap, it's forever,” he said on the possibility of marriage in the near future.
“We really feel that everything works in God's time. When it's God time, it's the perfect time.”
