Gladys’ 10 memorable moments

I take my hat off to Gladys Reyes (Mrs. Christopher Roxas Sommereux) for her ability to invite bigwigs to guest on her show Moments (on Net 25, Saturdays from 7 to 8 p.m., with replays on Sundays from 2 to 3 p.m.), including former First Lady Imelda Marcos, Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, and Judy Ann Santos/Ryan Agoncillo, and draw out from them details of their lives not known to the public. Gladys is an engaging and gracious host, and watching every episode of her two-year-old show proves to be a memorable moment.

You wonder, what does Gladys consider the “10 Memorable Moments” of her own life?

These (as listed by Gladys herself):

1. When I got the title role of Clara in Mara Clara that started my “contravida” career.

2. When I met my first and last boyfriend and now my husband, Christopher.

3. When we got married after 11 years of being “bf/gf.”

4. When I gave birth to our first child Christophe.

5. When I was given my own talk show about parenting…yes, Moments.

6. When I found out I’m pregnant with my second child Aquisha.

7. When my bunso Grant was born, a very handsome baby who got most of his looks from his dad.

8. When we had our very own house.

9. When I was given another talk/variety morning show on GMA, Basta Everyday Happy!

10. When I co-produced and wrote my episodes in Moments, now entering its 25th season. The pilot episode with Ate Vi was very memorable!

Will the new Mr. and Miss Chinatown join showbiz?

Although they have the looks and the talent, the reigning Mr. and Miss Chinatown Randy See and Ronili Lim Pineda didn’t avail of a contract with Star Magic which was part of their prizes (including P500,000 cash each and a trip either to Beijing or Shanghai with pocket money).

Randy has just graduated with a B.S. Management degree from Ateneo while Ronili continued her Interior Design studies.

Will this year’s winners be tempted to try showbiz? They will be known during the grand finals on July 27 (Sunday), aired on ABS-CBN which is behind the contest with the Miss Chinatown Foundation. At stake are P500,000 worth of cash and other prizes each for the winners; P300,000 worth of cash and prizes each for the first runners-up; and P200,000 worth of cash and prizes each for the second runners-up.

The contestants (who speak Chinese, a must) are (female): Glezlie Ong, Christine Grace Co, Judielyn Chang, Abegail Chua Castor, Chelsea Robato, Nicole Cordoves, Tola Orendain, Felina Lim, Sharmay Cu, Jamie Reyes, Lourdes Aurora Cu and Anie Unson; and (male): Kurt Joshua Ong, Oscar Daniel Miralles, Wesley Chawn Cua, Michael Anthony Tiong, Mark Anthony Lim, John Ralph Boo, Jan Hung, Timothy Lawrence Yap, King Choi, Raven Robin Go, Cedrick Cheston Miranda and David Sy Licauco.
