Bistek (finally) says sorry to Kris

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Curtain-raisers:

This actor has a good reason to be sore at the network that he had moved into after his contract with another network expired. You see, the axe was made to fall on him with neither any warning nor notice. That’s why he was still saying “See you next week!” not knowing that it was his show’s last episode. It hurt that he wasn’t even given a chance to say goodbye, doesn’t it?

This actress is also sore at her home studio for a good reason — she wasn’t included in the company’s Metro Filmfest entry and, worse, wasn’t allowed to do a movie with an actor from another company. Their reteam-up would have been a blockbuster.

Have you been wondering why a certain actress can cry at the snap of a finger, shedding tears as if a faucet turned on full blast? According to a Funfare DPA, when the actress was a kid, she (and her sibling) would witness their parents fight, with their dad often turning violent, and while crying their lungs out they would beg their mom and dad to stop it already. Indeed, experience is the best teacher and the actress draws from real life when she’s doing heavy-drama scenes.

* * *

Don’t say you’re sorry

It had to be.

Go on your way now

Don’t pity me.

I heard you say that

I’ll forget in time.

I may forget

But will this heart of mine.

— from In Time by Steve Lawrence

That song fits Kris Aquino’s current state of the heart. The other night on her ABS-CBN show Aquino and Abunda Tonight, Kris was on “emote” mode again, addressing somebody she didn’t identify, “…I’ve been waiting for a sorry, a personal sorry. Kasi parang nasabi ko, ‘Hiniya mo naman ako sa buong publiko, sana naman kahit tayong dalawa lang magkaharap, sana nag-sorry ka sa akin.’

Of course, “buong publiko” knows who Kris was referring to — Quezon City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista, who else! Kris has been hurting since Bistek admitted on national television that he love(s) his children that’s why he decided to discontinue his and Kris’ “work in progress.”

Asked about it, Kris texted Funfare from Macau (where she received a First Runner-Up award for Outstanding Program Host in the Asia Rainbow TV Awards), “Nag-sorry na. May card na pinadala.”

Still smarting from that “work that didn’t progress,” Kris is giving her (wounded?) heart a rest, never mind if her doctor-friend has introduced to her a tall, good-looking, fit, personable and successful man.

Would he be “the one?”

“Kahit hindi pa,” said Kris. “Too soon.”

Briefly noted

Jennylyn Mercado, the endorser of The Belo Medical Clinic’s Laser Lipo Arms treatment, said that she’s happily single whose only man in her life at the moment is her son Alex Jazz. “I’m a single parent in more ways than one,” said Jennylyn when asked if Jazz’s father, Patrick Garcia, is doing his share in raising the boy. “Kaya kong mag-isa na palakihin ang anak ko.” (For more revelations from Jennylyn, watch this afternoon’s Startalk on GMA starting at 3:30; and check out tomorrow’s Conversations With Ricky Lo.)

If the next Transformers movie is filmed, Kitkat said that she should be included in the cast. Why? “Because every part of my body has been transformed,” she admitted, thanks to Dr. Vicki Belo who has totally re-invented Kitkat. “I don’t look like my old self anymore kaya hindi n’yo ako nakilala, ano?” she greeted the movie press when she hosted the Laser Lipo Arms launched last Tuesday, adding in jest, “magpapa-quiz ako. There are 300 answers to what parts of my body have  been transformed.”
