Ogie on Jinggoy, Bong plunder case: 'Justice has to be served'
June 26, 2014 | 1:35pm
MANILA, Philippines – Ogie Alcasid believes senators Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla “have to face the music†as they face plunder charges in connection with the pork barrel scam.
“In the end, justice has to be served. If it's true that they are not guilty, then dapat lamang na makalaya sila. If they are found guilty, well, you know, justice has to be served,†he said in an interview with members of the press at the set of “Let's Ask Pilipinas,†his upcoming game show on TV5, on Wednesday, June 25.
The 46-year-old singer-comedian admits he is a friend to both Bong and Jinggoy and wishes that they're not guilty.
“They're good people. Kilala natin sila,†Ogie said. “But now that they're there, they have to face the music. Yun lang talaga yun.â€
He also said, “The real test—now that andyan na yan, nasa labas na yan—is tignan natin kung paano umandar ang makinarya ng hustisya.â€
The topic of politics came up during the interview when Ogie was asked what question he would want to ask Filipinos in his upcoming quiz show, "Let's Ask Pilipinas."
Ogie replaces Aga Muhlach as the host of the quiz show.
“Siguro ano, 'Sino sa tingin ninyo ang karapat-dapat na maging successor ni PNoy? Kasi mahalaga yun e. It affects all of us, di ba, whoever the next president will be,†he said.
Ogie believes being a politician is really a “vocationâ€â€”which is why he has no plans to enter politics.
“Talagang kailangan, doon ka nakatutok. Saka simula't sapol, gusto mo talaga siyang gawin, hindi siya afterthought,†he said. “Even if your intentions are right and pure and correct, the people have to grow with you, they have to know you from the very beginning.â€
“It's a career. It's not a business and it's definitely not an afterthought.â€
“Let's Ask Pilipinas†will begin its third season on July 7, Monday on TV5.
