MANILA, Philippines - Alongside the release of her self-titled debut album, which showcases her vocal power, range and brand of R&B, Janice Javier (photo) is set to stage her first solo concert on July 4, which is titled The Voice of Janice Javier: Live in Concert.
With her record and management deal with MCA Music, The Voice of the Philippines second runner-up is ready to show all she’s got. Janice will perform songs included in her album, including her original song and collaboration with her coach apl.de.ap, Breathe, as well as her covers of Why Can’t It Be, Heaven Knows, I Believe I Can Fly and her take on Starting Over Again, which was used in the promotional trailer of the top-grossing movie of the same title.
With her big voice and big heart for music come even bigger dreams for Janice. With over 20 years of performing experience here and abroad, she finds nothing more fulfilling than entertaining Filipinos. “One of the most difficult crowds to please (are the Filipinos) that’s why it’s fulfilling,†she said.
Janice was known as one of the “divas†from the first season of The Voice of the Philippines with her voice being oft-compared to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin.
Janice’s life has always been filled with music. Her dad, the second-generation Hotdog keyboardist Rolando Javier, nurtured her interest and trained her to become a better vocalist. She already did music professionally during her entire high school years as a multiplex, commercial jingle singer, and then as a back-up singer for various clients and bands. Despite her initial fears and insecurities, the support of the fans keeps her going and pushes her to improve more.
The Voice of Janice Javier, Live in Concert will be held July 4, 8 p.m., at the Teatrino in Greenhills. Joining Janice as special guest is fellow The Voice of the Philippines finalist Myk Perez. Tickets are available at P1,000 each via Ticketworld. Call 891-9999 or log on to www.ticketworld.com.ph.
